Voting is now open for West End Frame's Understudy of the Year Award 2015!

Voting opened on Thursday 9th July at 1pm and will close at 3pm on Wednesday 12th August.

The award is a celebration of standbys, alternates and understudies, without whom the West End wouldn't be able to function. Due to public demand, this year for the first time ever 3 understudies/alternates/standbys from UK touring productions have been nominated alongside 25 West End understudies/alternates/standbys.

London is home to some of the most inspiring theatre in the world. This award is a celebration of all those shows which leave audiences with a spring in their step - whether people are left with tears of joy or sadness, all the nominated shows make a mark on their audiences. So far this year some of the biggest shows in the West End - including Wicked, Miss Saigon, The Book of Mormon and Les Miserables - have picked up West End Frame Awards.

But for the final West End Frame Award of 2014 we have decided to bring back London Fringe Production of the Year to celebrate all the incredible work that has been produced in some of London's most exciting smaller venues over the past year.

2014 has been an incredible year for fringe theatre. The bar has been raised leaving theatregoers fighting for tickets. Twenty shows have been nominated for the Award, including: A First World Problem (Theatre503), Alice Through The Looking Glass (St Paul’s Church), Carousel (Arcola). Carthage (Finborough), Chicken Shop (Park), Damn Yankees (Landor), Dogfight (Southwark Playhouse), Drunk (Bridewell Theatre), Freak (Theatre503), Holes (Arcola Tent), In The Heights (Southwark Playhouse), Kiss Me, Kate (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), Love Story (Union), Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions (Tabard Theatre), Pacific Overtures (Union Theatre), Sweeney Todd (Tooting Arts Club), Sweeney Todd (Twickenham Theatre), The Love and Devotion of Ridley Smith (Old Red Lion), The Return of the Solider (Jermyn Street) and Thérèse Raquin (Finborough/Park).

Last year’s Best West End Debut Award was won by international star Zrinka Cvitešić for her performance in Once. In 2012 the Award was won by X Factor UK winner Shayne Ward for his West End debut in Rock Of Ages.

Voting is now open for West End Frame's 2014 Understudy of the Year Award. 

Understudy of the Year is a celebration of standbys, alternates and understudies, without whom the West End wouldn’t be able to function. For six weeks it is always inspiring to see some of the West End's most talented yet unrecognised stars step into the limelight.

UPDATE: Voting for Understudy of the Year 2014 is now closed. The full result will be announced on Friday 18th July 2014.

Voting for West End Frame's Understudy of the Year 2014 opened at 1pm on Friday 6th June and must close at 3pm on Wednesday 16th July. Scroll down to vote.

Last year the award was won by Ashley Day for understudying Elder Price in The Book of Mormon. Top Hat's Alan Burkitt finished second whilst Wicked's Hayley Gallivan finished third. In 2012 Katy Treharne won Understudy of the Year for alternating Christine in The Phantom of the Opera. Chicago's Jenny Gayner came second and We Will Rock You's Lauren Varnham came third.

Voting is now open for West End Frame's Best Performance of a Song in a Musical Award. The award is a celebration of those who wow, move and dazzle West End audiences night after night by giving a stand out performance of a musical number.

The award runs as part of the 2014 West End Frame Awards. Unlike other theatre awards, West End Frame only opens voting for one category at a time and combines male and female actors from musicals and plays into the same categories (where applicable). The 2014 West End Frame Awards began last month, with The Book of Mormon winning Funniest West End Show. 

In 2012 Rachel Tucker won Best Performance of a Song in a Musical for her performance of 'Defying Gravity' in Wicked and last year the award was won by Sofia Escobar for her performance of 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' in The Phantom of the Opera. 

Voting for Best Performance of a Song in a Musical 2014 opened at 2pm on Friday 25th April and must close at 3pm on Monday 12th May 2014. The result can be previewed until Monday 5th May 2014 and will be announced on Wednesday 14th May 2014.

VOTE: Funniest West End Show 2014

Voting is now open for the first 2014 West End Frame Award, 'Funniest West End Show'. Sometimes audiences go to the theatre to be moved or for escapism, but our latest award is a celebration of West End plays and musicals which leave audiences in hysterics night after night.

The West End Frame Awards are back for a third year with this brand new category. The publicly voted for awards combine new and long-running plays and musicals into the same categories. Voting opens for one award at a time throughout the year. 

Voting for 'Funniest West End Show' opened on Monday 3rd March and must close at 3pm on Thursday 13th March 2014. The result can be previewed until Sunday 9th March and the result will be announced on Friday 14th March.

Every year many actors join their first West End show so our latest award is a celebration of some of the most spectacular West End debuts which have been made over the past year. Nine incredible actors have been nominated, some of whom are established performers and some who have only recently graduated from drama school.

Voting for Best West End Debut opened at opened at 2pm on Friday 16th August and must close at 3pm on Thursday 29th August 2013. The result will be announced on Friday 30th August and you can preview the result (after voting) until Sunday 25th August.

Best West End Debut is part of the 2013 West End Frame Awards. Unlike other theatre awards West End Frame only opens voting for one category at a time. Best West End Debut follows Understudy Of The Year, Best Performance of a Song in a Musical and Best Jukebox Musical. Last year's Best West End Debut Award was won by Shayne Ward who made his West End debut as Stacee Jaxx in Rock Of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Kimberley Walsh (Princess Fiona, Shrek) came second and Adam Pettigrew (Boq, Wicked) came third.

Details have been announced for the next West End Frame Award. From tomorrow (Monday 5th November), West End Frame readers will be able to vote in a new category entitled 'Funniest Performance in a West End Show'. The 12 nominees are from some of the West End's most popular shows including Mamma Mia!, Loserville, The 39 Steps, A Chorus Of Disapproval, Les Miserables, Rock Of Ages and Wicked. The identities of the 12 nominees will be revealed tomorrow morning when voting opens.

Previously this year West End Frame readers have already voted in five categorises: Best West End Debut, Understudy Of The Year, Most Wanted Actor/Actress To Return To The West End, Best Performance Of A Song In A Musical and Best Rock Musical.

Poll: Rock Of Ages vs We Will Rock You - what is the better rock musical in town?!

We Will Rock You has been in the West End for a very long time and despite what people thought it has done incredibly well! I think the main reason for this is because it attracts a different sort of audience. So it was only a matter of time before something similar came along - Rock Of Ages. Both shows are simular yet different. I think We Will Rock You is better in terms of the big set and massive ensemble dance numbers where as Rock Of Ages has a much smaller cast but is much much funnier and up to date and modern.
