Open auditions announced for Croydon's 2016 pantomime

Q Productions have announced that open auditions will be taking place for their production of Aladdin. Producers are searching for young performers to appear in Croydon's 2016 pantomime.

Following the closure of Fairfield Halls to undergo a two-year refurbishment, Q Productions are producing Aladdin to ensure Croydon still has a pantomime this Christmas. 

As previously announced, the panto will run between 7th December and 31st December 2016 at Waddon Leisure Centre. The venue is being converted into a 400-seat theatre specially for the production.

Open auditions announced for Cats 2017 international tour

Open dance auditions are being held for the 2017 international tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats. 

Experienced dancers, aged 21 and over, are invited to register to audition from 9:30 to 12:00 on Monday 15th August at Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden. Auditions will take place between 10:00 and 18:00. 

Auditionees should bring a current CV and headshot along with one musical theatre song which shows your range. Auditionees must be available for rehearsals in London during November and December 2016 and for performances from January 2017. This is a one year contract. The casting call states that "successful auditionees will have the opportunity to travel the world with the musical phenomenon and become part of Cats history".

Open auditions announced for The Wind in the Willows

Open auditions have been announced for Julian Fellowes, George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's new musical adaptation of The Wind in the Willows.

The show receives its world premiere in Autumn 2016, running at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 8th October 2016 before touring to the Lowry Salford and Mayflower Southampton.

Auditions will be held at The Lowry in Salford on 22nd April and at Rambert in London on 23rd April. Producers are looking for "strong character actors, with excellent singing and dancing skills, for principal roles and male and female ensemble. Attendees should be prepared to sing a musical theatre song and must be aged 18 years or older." Click here for full information.

Open auditions announced for rumoured West End transfer of The King & I

Open auditions have been announced for the rumoured West End transfer of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King & I. 

Whilst exact details of the musical's London transfer have yet to be revealed, The Stage have published information for an upcoming open dance call. Click here for more.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, the Lincoln Centre's production has choreography by Christopher Gattelli - based on the original choreography by Jerome Robbins - and set design by Michael Yeargan.

Open auditions announced for Jesus Christ Superstar

Open auditions have been announced for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Casting director Will Burton has revealed that open auditions will take place on Monday 25th January 2016 at the Open Air Theatre. 

Auditionees must be available between June and August 2016. The casting team are looking for "outstanding" rock, pop and soul voices who must *at least* be a mover.

Further open auditions announced for Motown The Musical

It has been announced that further open auditions will be held for the West End production of Motown The Musical.

Auditions will be held next month on Saturday 7th November 2015 for the opportunity to portray the iconic artists of Marvin Gaye and Young Michael Jackson in the musical. 

Auditions for the role of Marvin Gaye will commence at 10:30am, with registration from 10am. Auditions for the role of Young Michael Jackson will commence at 2pm, with registration from 1:30pm.

Open auditions announced for The Lion King

Disney’s musical The Lion King will be holding open auditions in London for roles in the West End production which is celebrating 16 years at the Lyceum Theatre. 

Auditions for male and female singers will take place on Saturday 7th November at Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church, Shaftesbury Avenue, while auditions for male and female dancers will take place on Saturday 21st November at Moonshot Centre, New Cross. 

Morning registration is at 10am and it is advised that auditionees arrive early. The afternoon registration is at 1.30pm.

Open auditions announced for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

It has been announced that open auditions are being held for the West End production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Next month, performers are invited to attend a day of auditions for the roles of the Oompa-Loompas for the 2016-17 West End company. 

Auditions will be held on Monday 26th October 2015 at the Dominion Theatre. Auditions for female performers start at 10am and for male performers at 2pm.

Open auditions announced for West End premiere of Disney's Aladdin

Open auditions have been announced for the West End transfer of Disney's Aladdin. Producers are searching for "exceptional male and female dancers and singers".

Aladdin is set to open at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2016, with exact dates to be confirmed. The show is directed and choreographed by The Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw and composed by Tony Award winner Alan Menken. It features lyrics penned by Howard Ashman and Tony Award winner Tim Rice, with book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin. The production opened on Broadway in March 2014.

Wicked on Broadway announces open auditions for Elphaba!

The Broadway production of Wicked is holding open auditions to find a new Elphaba understudy! 

Auditions will take place in New York next Monday (27th July) at Telsey + Company (311 W 43rd St). Sign-in begins on the 10th floor at 1:30pm. Auditions will be held between 2pm and 4pm.

Details: Elphaba Understudy
  • Female, to play 20s, any ethnicity. 
  • Needs a powerhouse, thrilling high-belt singing voice, acting chops, and dancing and partnering ability. 
  • Must be capable of carrying a big show.

Earlier today (7th July) almost 200 people attended open auditions at the London Welsh Centre to portray iconic artists in the West End transfer of Motown The Musical. Check out images from the open auditions below (click picture to enlarge). 

With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry GordyMotown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. The production will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 8th March 2016 (previews from 11th February) and is booking until 22nd October 2016.

West End show Impossible searching for child magic stars

Magic show Impossible is searching for two 8 – 12 year old children with a keen interest in magic to join the magicians and illusionists in a new spectacular starring role during the production's West End run. 

The chosen performers will play a key role in the production, opening the show and joining the magicians in an "astounding" closing sequence. 

Jamie Hendry (producer) said: "This is a rare opportunity for a budding magician to join a team of world-class illusionists on stage as they perform a range a death-defying stunts, and amazing tricks live in front of a West End theatre audience. They will get to see first-hand just how powerful and impressive magic can be, and hopefully this will be the start of their careers as stars of the future – it will certainly make for an interesting “what I did this summer report” when they get back to school!"

Motown the Musical to hold open auditions ahead of West End premiere

The West End production of Motown the Musical will hold open casting auditions next month for the opportunity to portray the iconic artists of Motown in the musical.

The open auditions will be at The London Welsh Centre on Tuesday 7th July 2015, with registration open on the day from 10am until 1pm.

With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. The production will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 8th March 2016 (previews from 11th February) and is booking until 22nd October 2016. 

Motown The Musical premiered on Broadway in April 2013 where it ran until January 2015. Featuring a sixteen piece orchestra playing 50 Motown tracks including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, I’ll Be There, Dancing In The Street, Stop! In The Name Of Love, My Girl, I Heard It Through The Grapevine and For Once In My Life, Charles Randolph-Wright’s production tells the story behind the classic hits.

Drew McOnie announces open auditions for dance-thriller adaptation of Jekyll & Hyde at the Old Vic

Acclaimed choreographer Drew McOnie has announced open auditions for his dance-thriller adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde

With music by Grant Olding, the production will premiere at the Old Vic next year as part of Matthew Warchus' debut season as artistic director of the iconic venue.

Open auditions will be held on Sunday 5th July 2015 at Glasshill Studios (King Bench Street, London SE1 0QX) with registration taking place between 9am and 12pm and auditions taking place between 10am and 6pm. Auditionees should bring a current CV and headshot and be prepared to stay all day. Girls to bring heels and no outdoor trainers. Recalls will take place on Sunday 12th July. 

Candidates must be available April - June 2016. The open call states: "We are looking for extraordinary, vibrant and intelligent dancers with a minimum of three years dance training who excel in narrative expression to form the dance company."

Open auditions announced for Priscilla UK tour

Debbie O'Brien Casting have announced that open auditions for the upcoming UK tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert will be held later this week.

Producers are looking for an actor to play the leading role of Adam (Felicia). Open auditions will take place at 10am (for 10.30am start) on Thursday 18th June 2015 at Dragon Hall in Covent Garden (17 Stukeley Street, WC2B 5LT).

  • Must have excellent dance and vocal skills (strong rock tenor is essential) and muscular physique
  • Must be prepared to start in late July for 1 year contract
  • Please wear close fitting dance clothes and jazz trainers, and bring heels if you have them

Open auditions announced for West End premiere of Dreamgirls

Last month Baz Bamigboye revealed that producer Sonia Friedman is bringing Dreamgirls to the West End. It was also reported that The Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw will direct the musical's West End premiere. 


Dreamgirls could open in the West End in 2016 or 2017, but it is still "very early days". Dreamgirls opened on Broadway in 1981 and was later adapted into a hugely successful film starring Jennifer Hudson (pictured above); however, the musical has never made it to the West End.

Godspell Tour announces open auditions

It was recently announced that, following its recent West End staging, Godspell in Concert will tour the UK next Sprig. 

Producers secured the rights for the new Broadway Revival production which had never been performed outside of the USA. The show features new orchestrations by Michael Holland and additional lyrics from Stephen Schwartz.

In the show a cast of 10 principles will be supported by a small ensemble and a choir in each venue. Open auditions have been announced. Producers are looking for a small number of "incredible" singers/vocalists to join the cast as principles. The open casting call says:

Disney's The Lion King announces open auditions

It has been announced that open auditions are to be held for Cub School which is the programme where children who have the potential to play Young Simba and Young Nala in Disney's The Lion King have the opportunity to "hone the skills required" to take on the roles.

Cub School is a free, fourteen-week performance-training programme from which the roles of Young Simba and Young Nala are cast. During the programme, children are trained in the disciplines of dance, voice and acting by teachers who are associated with The Lion King.

Let It Be to hold open auditions

It has been announced that producers of Let It Be are holding open auditions to find new cast members to play all four leading roles.

Master musicians from all walks of life are invited to participate - provided they can recreate the authentic Beatles' sound. Successful auditionees will have the chance to play to packed houses in the West End and across the world as members of the Let It Be company.

Auditions will be held at the Garrick Theatre in London on Wednesday 3rd September. Hopefuls are invited to register in person at 9.30am or 1.30pm, when they will be assigned a 5 minute slot to perform a song from The Beatles' discography. All instruments will be provided.
