Founded by Sabrina Aloueche and Parnell Page, West End Fest has become firmly established as a must-see concert series for theatre lovers. The event sees musical theatre actors, who have starred and appeared in many of the West End's biggest shows, come together on their night off from their gruelling schedule to raise money for some incredible charities.

Described as "the world's first musical super group", last night Boys of the Barricade made their debut with a one-night-only concert at the Charing Cross Theatre. Made up of musical theatre performers who have appeared in either the West End, touring or film versions of Les Miserables, the group performed new arrangements of a plethora of music.

The line-up has been announced for the first ever Boys of the Barricade concert. 

Described as "the world's first musical super group", the Boys of the Barricade will perform at the Charing Cross Theatre on 26th July at 7pm.

The line-up (all of whom have appeared in Les Miserables) includes: Craig Mather, Kieran Brown, Andy Coxon (pictured right), Simon Schofield and James Charlton.

Simon Bailey and Scott Garnham will make special guest appearances. Boys of the Barricade has been created by Garnham and Schofield.

Interview: Kieran Brown, currently in The Phantom of the Opera

Kieran Brown is currently understudying the title role in the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Most recently Kieran played Elphaba’s Father and understudied The Wizard and Dr. Dillamond in Wicked (Apollo Victoria).

Just a few of his credits also include: understudy Raoul in Love Never Dies (Adelphi), Les Misérables (Palace/25th Anniversary Concert at the O2), Before the Night Is Through (Landor), Tick, Tick… Boom! (Vienna), Pipe Dream (Union), The Phantom in Maury Yeston’s Phantom (Ye Olde Rose and Crown), Tony Christie/Elton John in Laughter in the Rain (UK tour) and The Thorn Birds (UK tour). 

Kieran speaks to West End Frame about landing his dream show, his memories of his first Phantom performance, as well as what other projects are keeping him busy at the moment plus much, much more…

How is life in Phantom?

It’s really great thank you! Sometimes I still can’t quite believe I’m there to be honest! I’m hugely proud to be associated with the show. 

Was it always one of your dream shows?

Oh definitely. I saw it at the Edinburgh Playhouse in 1991 and I fell in love with it. I used to listen to the cast recording every night before I went to sleep. It’s a show I’ve wanted to do for such a long time, and have come close to doing a couple of times before but I guess the timing wasn’t right then. I was actually with West End Wilma talking about how I was a knock back or two away from taking a break for a while – no idea what I would do instead though – when I got the call to say I had been offered the job of cover Phantom. I was sure it was going to be a no. That was a good night [laughs].

Before The Night Is Through is a new British musical  receiving its world premiere this week at the Landor Theatre as part of Aria Entertainment's season of new writing, From Page To Stage. The murder mystery musical (with a twist) has book and lyrics by Olivia Thompson and music by Chris Whitehead.

Kieran Brown for cabaret show at the Union Theatre

It has been announced that West End star Kieran Brown will star in a cabaret show at the Union Theatre on Monday 26th August 2013 at 8pm.

Speaking to West End Frame, Kieran said: "The music is the most important thing - every song chosen has a special meaning to me. I'll be doing songs from various shows I have worked on, my Elphaba tribute 'Malphaba' and maybe a teaser for its sequel 'Guylinda'. As usual with my cabarets, there will be prizes to be won and a bit of audience participation."

Kieran is currently starring in Pipe Dream at the Union Theatre. Most recently he played the title role in the UK Premiere of Maury Yeston's Phantom (Ye Olde Rose & Crown). His other credits include Elphaba's Father in Wicked (Apollo Victoria), cover Raoul in Love Never Dies (Adelphi Theatre) and Les Misérables (Palace).

Interview: Kieran Brown on My Big Fat MUSICAL Cabaret 2

After the success of his previous cabarets Kieran Brown is back doing what he does best! He will star in 'My Big Fat Musical Cabaret' at the Union Theatre on 29th July 2012. Kieran is currently understudying the roles of Doctor Dillamond and The Wizard in Wicked at The Apollo Victoria. 

Speaking to West End Frame Kieran said "Well, it's called My Big Fat MUSICAL Cabaret 2, and basically the title says it all! I did a similar show a couple of times last year at the Pheasantry and Lauderdale House, although this version is predominantly new."
