Rory O'Malley taking over from Jonathan Groff in Hamilton

Rory O'Malley is taking over from Jonathan Groff as King George in the Broadway production of Hamilton.

O'Malley will play his first performance at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre on 11th April. Groff leaves the show on 9th April to film new Netflix drama Mindhunter.

O'Malley recently played Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon on Broadway, for which he received Tony and Drama Desk nominations. He has also appeared in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Broadway whilst his off-Broadway credits include: Nobody Loves You and Little Miss Sunshine.

Andrew Rannells temporarily taking over from Jonathan Groff in Hamilton

It has been announced that Andrew Rannells will temporarily take over as King George in Hamilton on Broadway.

Rannells will star in the show for a limited run between 27th October and 29th November 2015 whilst Jonathan Groff films Looking. Groff will return to the musical, which runs at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, on 1st December 2015.

Rannells won a Tony Award for creating the role of Elder Price in The Book of Mormon. His Broadway credits also include: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Jersey Boys and Hairspray. 

Jonathan Groff returning to Broadway

It has been announced that Jonathan Groff will continue to star as King George III when off-Broadway new musical Hamilton transfers to Broadway this summer. 

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights), Hamilton opens at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on 13th July 2015. Groff took over as King George at the Public Theater when Brian d’Arcy James was cast in Something Rotten. 

Groff previously starred in Spring Awakening on Broadway. His off-Broadway credits include Hair, The Submission, The Singing Forest and Prayer for My Enemy. He starred in Deathtrap in the West End and recently appeared in a concert staging of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Royal Festival Hall. His screen credits include HBO, Glee and Frozen.

It has been announced that Frozen's Jonathan Groff will star in a concert staging of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying at the Royal Festival Hall on 19th May 2015.

The Broadway actor will play J. Pierrepont Finch in Jonathan Butterell's production of Frank Loesser's show. Musical direction is by Mike Dixon.
