Ron Cook joins Stephen Dillane & Gina McKee in Donmar's Faith Healer

It has been announced that Ron Cook completes the cast of Faith Healer by Brian Friel at the Donmar Warehouse.

Cook joins the previously announced Stephen Dillane and Gina McKee. 

Directed by Lyndsey Turner, the production opens on 28th June (previews from 23rd June) and runs until 20th August 2016.

Designer Es Devlin has joined the creative team. Costume is by Jack Galloway with lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Christopher Shutt and compositions by Rupert Cross.

Sian Thomas replaces Francesca Annis in Welcome Home, Captain Fox! at the Donmar

It has been announced that Sian Thomas will star as Mrs Fox in Welcome Home, Captain Fox! at the Donmar Warehouse.

Thomas replaces the previously announced Francesca Annis who has withdrawn from the production for "personal reasons". The show opens on 1st March (previews from 18th February) and runs until 1st March 2016.

Welcome Home, Captain Fox! is Anthony Weigh’s new version of Jean Anouilh’s hit 1937 comedy Le Voyageur Sans Bagage. The production is directed by Blanche McIntyre. Thomas joins the previously announced Michelle Asante, Barnaby Kay, Rory Keenan, Katherine Kingsley, Trevor Laird, Danny Webb, Fenella Woolgar and Daniel York.

Barbara Flynn, Nina Sosanya & Zoë Wanamaker to star in ELEGY at the Donmar Warehouse

Full casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Elegy by Nick Payne. 

The production opens at the Donmar Warehouse on 27th April (previews from 21st April) and runs until 18th June 2016.

Directed by artistic director Josie Rourke, the full cast includes Barbara Flynn as Carrie, Nina Sosanya as Miriam and Zoë Wanamaker as Lorna, all of whom are returning to the Donmar. 

The piece "imagines a very-near future in which radical and unprecedented advances in medical science mean that it’s now possible to extend life".

Donmar announces 2016 Spring Season

The Donmar Warehouse has announced its 2016 Spring Season.

The season includes thee plays: 

• Welcome Home, Captain Fox! - a new version of Jean Anouilh’s Le Voyageur Sans Bagage by Anthony Weigh directed by Blanche McIntyre
• The world premiere of a new play by Nick Payne called Elegy directed by Josie Rourke
• A revival of Brian Friel’s Faith Healer directed by Lyndsey Turner 

The cast of Welcome Home, Captain Fox! will include Francesca Annis, Michelle Asante, Barnaby Kay, Rory Keenan, Katherine Kingsley, Trevor Laird and Fenella Woolgar. The play runs between 18th February and 16th April 2016. Design is by Mark Thompson with lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Gregory Clarke.

Elaine Cassidy replaces Michelle Dockery in Donmar’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses

It has been announced that Elaine Cassidy will play Madame de Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Donmar Warehouse.

Cassidy replaces the previously announced Michelle Dockery who "regrettably" has had to withdraw from the production prior to the start of rehearsals.

Artistic Director Josie Rourke said: "We are delighted to welcome Elaine Cassidy back to the Donmar playing Madame de Tourvel, I can’t wait to work with Elaine and our fantastic company when rehearsals start on Monday, and hope to work with Michelle in the future."

Further casting announced for Donmar's Les Liaisons Dangereuses

The Donmar Warehouse has announced full principal casting for the final production of the 2015 autumn season, Les Liaisons Dangereuses directed by artistic director Josie Rourke.

Joining the previously announced Michelle Dockery, Janet McTeer and Dominic West are: Adjoa Andoh, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Morfydd Clark, Edward Holcroft, Jennifer Saayeng and Una Stubbs.

Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel has been adapted for the stage by Christopher Hampton. Design is by Tom Scutt with lighting by Mark Henderson, sound by Carolyn Downing, compositions by Michael Bruce and fight direction from Richard Ryan.

Full casting announced for Teddy Ferrara at the Donmar Warehouse

Full casting has been announced for the UK premiere of Teddy Ferrara by Christopher Shinn. The piece is inspired by real events, exploring society’s "uncomfortable embrace of the outsider".

Directed by Dominic Cooke, the production opens at the Donmar Warehouse on 7th October (previews from 1st October) and runs until 5th December 2015. 

The cast includes: Nancy Crane, Griffyn Gilligan, Nick Harris, Christopher Imbrosciano, Oliver Johnstone, Kadiff Kirwan, Ryan McParland, Matthew Marsh, Anjli Mohindra, Luke Newberry, Pamela Nomvete, Abubakar Salim and Nathan Wiley.

Donmar Warehouse announces autumn 2015 season

The opening play in the Donmar’s 2015 Autumn Season will be the first major London run of Splendour by Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning writer Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame). It will be directed by Donmar Associate Director Robert Hastie, fresh from his Olivier Award-nominated production of My Night with Reg. The production will feature Zawe Ashton, Sinéad Cusack, Michelle Fairley and Genevieve O’Reilly.

Dominic Cooke will then direct his first theatre production since leaving the Royal Court in 2013, with the UK premiere of Teddy Ferrara, Christopher Shinn’s story of a student tragedy sending a campus into turmoil, featuring Nancy Crane, Oliver Johnstone, Kadiff Kirwan, Ryan McParland, Matthew Marsh, Anjli Mohindra, Luke Newberry, Pamela Nomvete and Nathan Wiley.

Donmar Warehouse celebrates record viewing figures for live broadcast of The Vote on More4

The live broadcast of The Vote from the Donmar Warehouse on More4 on 7th May attracted an audience of more than half a million, peaking at 555,000 viewers during its election night broadcast. 

This is the highest figure for a Donmar Warehouse production – with the previous record of 180,000 being set by Coriolanus which was broadcast into cinemas via National Theatre Live.

With consolidated figures via catch-up the number of viewers who have watched The Vote is 635,000, with a further 21,649 watching online.

Full casting has been announced for Temple at the Donmar Warehouse.

Howard Davies will direct Steve Waters' new play which is a fictionalised account of the events that took place during the 2011 Occupy demonstration outside St Paul’s Cathedral.

The production opens on 27th May (previews from 21st May) and runs until 25th July 2015.

Simon Russell Beale will return to the Donmar stage to play the Dean having previously starred in The Philanthropist, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya (for which he won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best Actor).

Completing the cast are: Anna Calder-Marshall, Paul Higgins, Rebecca Humphries, Shereen Martin, and Malcolm Sinclair.

The Vote, a play for theatre and television by James Graham, will run at the Donmar Warehouse between 24th April and 6th May ahead of a live broadcast on 7th May on More4.

Following their collaboration on Privacy, writer James Graham and Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director Josie Rourke will reunite for The Vote, a drama and unique television event set in a fictional polling station, during the final ninety minutes of voting on election day. 

An ensemble cast of actors will represent the team of polling station volunteers, polling officers, and the diverse array of characters that are the voting public.

Donmar Warehouse cancels tonight's performance of City Of Angels

The Donmar Warehouse has been forced to cancel tonight's performance (22nd January) of City Of Angels due to sudden cast illness (the theatre does not employ understudies). 

An official statement reads:

Due to the sudden illness of one of our actors we have regrettably had to cancel tonight’s performance of City of Angels. We are contacting all bookers and where possible will endeavour to reseat audiences in alternative performances or arrange a full refund. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused and thank you for your understanding.

GOSSIP: City Of Angels in "early stages" of West End transfer talks

According to the Daily Mail, the Donmar Warehouse are in the "early stages of talks" about transferring City Of Angels to the West End. Baz Bamigboye has revealed that discussions are at an "exploratory" stage with theatre owners.

The musical currently stars Samantha Barks, Rosalie Craig, Katherine Kelly, Peter Polycarpou, Marc Elliott and the West End Frame Award winning Tam Mutu as well as Rebecca Trehearn, Hadley Fraser, Nick Cavaliere, Cameron Cuffe, Adam Fogerty, Kadiff Kirwan, Sandra Marvin, Mark Penfold, Jennifer Saayeng, Jo Servi and Tim Walton.

The Donmar Warehouse has released the first production images for City Of Angels which officially opens tonight (16th December). Check out the images below (click picture to enlarge).

City Of Angels runs until Saturday 7th February 2015. The entire run is sold out; however, the Donmar will be releasing more than 550 tickets each week, including Barclays Front Row (released 10am every Monday throughout the run) and Day Tickets (available in person at the Box Office every day). 

Donmar Warehouse confirms details of 2015 Spring Season

The Donmar Warehouse has announced its 2015 Spring season. Productions include a revival of Patrick Marber’s 20th Century classic Closer, a new play for theatre and television by James Graham, The Vote and the world premiere of Temple, a new play by Steve Waters.

Artistic Director Josie Rourke said: "I am delighted to announce a new season for 2015 that includes the return of two directors and a playwright with deep-rooted connections to the Donmar. David Leveaux – a former Associate Director – who has assembled a terrific cast for the first London revival of Patrick Marber’s award-winning play Closer.

Full casting for City of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse has been announced. 

Joining the previously announced Samantha Barks, Rosalie Craig and Hadley Fraser are Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street), Tam Mutu (West End Frame Award winner for Les Mis, pictured right), Peter Polycarpou (Chichester's Guys and Dolls/The Pajama Game) and Rebecca Trehearn (Ghost/Dogfight).

They are joined by Nick Cavaliere, Cameron Cuffe, Marc Elliott, Adam Fogerty, Kadiff Kirwan, Sandra Marvin, Mark Penfold, Jennifer Saayeng, Jo Servi and Tim Walton.

City Of Angels opens on Tuesday 16th December 2014 (previews from 5th December) and runs until Saturday 7th February 2015.

Samantha Barks joins Hadley Fraser & Rosalie Craig in City Of Angels

It has been announced that Samantha Barks has joined the previously announced Hadley Fraser and Rosalie Craig in City Of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse.

The Donmar's Artistic Director, Josie Rourke, will direct Cy Coleman, David Zippel and Larry Gelbart’s musical.

Following a successful sell-out run in Coriolanus, Fraser returns to the Donmar to play Stine. He stars opposite Craig (his fiancée). The Light Princess actress is making her Donmar debut as Gabby/Bobbi alongside Les Miserables' Barks as Mallory/Avril

The musical comedy is set in Broadway in the 1940s with two plots: a Hollywood comedy and a detective drama involving the world of a writer trying to turn his book into a screenplay and the world of the fictional film. It is a homage to the film noir genre of motion pictures in the 1940s.

GOSSIP: Hadley Fraser & Rosalie Craig to star in City of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse?

According to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, Hadley Fraser and Rosalie Craig will star in City of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse in October. Josie Rourke directs, marking her first musical at the renowned theatrical venue. Fraser and Craig recently announced their engagement.

Previews begin Saturday 4th October 2014.

Cy Coleman (music), David Zippel (lyrics) and Larry Gelbart's (book) musical premiered on Broadway in 1989 and later received a West End run in 1993. It won both the Tony and Olivier Award for Best Musical.

The reputation of Conor McPherson’s 1997 play The Weir precedes it, having had successful runs in London and on Broadway and earning the author an Olivier for best play in 1999. Now last year’s sell-out Donmar Warehouse production, directed by Josie Rourke, gets a West End transfer and proves the 17-year-old work is still in fine fettle indeed.
