Sian Thomas replaces Francesca Annis in Welcome Home, Captain Fox! at the Donmar

It has been announced that Sian Thomas will star as Mrs Fox in Welcome Home, Captain Fox! at the Donmar Warehouse.

Thomas replaces the previously announced Francesca Annis who has withdrawn from the production for "personal reasons". The show opens on 1st March (previews from 18th February) and runs until 1st March 2016.

Welcome Home, Captain Fox! is Anthony Weigh’s new version of Jean Anouilh’s hit 1937 comedy Le Voyageur Sans Bagage. The production is directed by Blanche McIntyre. Thomas joins the previously announced Michelle Asante, Barnaby Kay, Rory Keenan, Katherine Kingsley, Trevor Laird, Danny Webb, Fenella Woolgar and Daniel York.

It’s the legendary hot summer of 1959 and while the Cold War rages and America tunes into I Love Lucy!, Captain Jack Fox, believed missing in action in the fields of France 15 years before, is about to be reunited with his family in The Hamptons. But is this really Jack Fox? And if it isn’t, who is this man? And why are there 22 other families so intent on claiming him as their own?

Thomas returns to the Donmar after appearing in Richard II in 2011. Her theatre work includes The Trial (Young Vic), Eldorado (Arcola), Passion Play (Duke of York’s) Blue Heart Afternoon and The Glass Room (Hampstead), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Northern Stage/Sheffield Crucible), Spring Awakening (Lyric Hammersmith/West End), Small Craft Warnings (Arcola), Macbeth and Hamlet (RSC/Albery), The Price (Apollo/Tricycle), Feelgood (Hampstead/Garrick), King Lear (RSC) and Richard III (RSC/Savoy).
