I’ve been to a few weddings over the past few years, but none as perfect as this...

I was thrilled to be invited to one of the twenty-two rehearsal dinners that Georgina was hosting in preparation for her perfect wedding. Funny, ridiculous and shockingly crude (all against Georgina’s will as she boasts that she has never sworn in her life), Anna Morris: It's Got to Be Perfect is a genius new invention of theatre. The show had the audience roaring with laughter at every aspect of Georgina’s disastrous rehearsal dinner.

Morris has the ability to turn an audience into naughty children; the crowd loved stitching her up at every given opportunity. This was magnified by the disrespect from Georgina’s staff and lack of family members at her rehearsal dinner. Georgina was forced to improvise and plucked a groom, best man, maid of honour and father of the bride from a very willing audience. Later on in the show, she even cast a jealous ex-boyfriend, who was ordered to make a raucous scene through the wedding, in order to portray an accurate possibility of events. Watching five members of the public improvise alongside an increasingly wound up Georgina was comedy gold and special credit must go to the brilliant audience member who picked a song from The Jungle Book as Georgina’s special song to walk down the aisle to.

Georgina’s character was endearingly arrogant and at points, so insulting that I felt my toes curl in a cocktail of shock and glee. A highlight of the show was when she dragged an innocent singleton onto the stage and aggressively cradled her whilst reassuring her that one day she too may get married (if she is very, very lucky like Georgina.)

As the rehearsal dinner continues, Georgina’s perfectly planned segments catapult wildly off point and leave the audience in stitches. I am thrilled to now be invited to the wedding, and on Georgina’s orders will ensure that I do not wear any shade of white, my hat isn’t large enough to obstruct her face and I will do my upmost best to only take photographs of the right side of her symmetrical face and of course obtain approval before uploading any to Facebook.
