Carole King to perform in London for first time in almost 3 decades

It has been announced that Carole King is returning to London to perform for the first time in almost three decades!

The star will perform her album Tapestry in its entirety with special guests Don Henley and Louise Goffin (additional guests to be announced) in Hyde Park on Sunday 3rd July 2016. 

The album inspired Beautiful: The Carole King Musical which continues to run in the West End and on Broadway.  King and her band will play the album in full, live for the first time, marking piece of music history. Tickets go on sale from 9am on 11th March.

Carole King commented: "I want to begin by thanking Londoners for making Beautiful: The Carole King Musical so successful. And now I’m coming to London and can’t wait to perform Tapestry from beginning to end for the first time ever! How perfect to be doing that in the heart of one of my favourite cities. 

"I know I’m not alone in considering Don Henley one of the greatest songwriters of our time. I’m looking forward to hearing classic Eagles songs and other hits from Don and his band. And, as a lifelong fan of Louise Goffin I can only say that there’s nowhere else I’d rather be on 3 July 2016 than Hyde Park in the great city of London."

A hit songwriter since the early 60s, King wrote a myriad of hits in New York City with husband Gerry Goffin that defined 1960s American pop. Will You Love Me Tomorrow for The Shirelles, Up On the Roof for The Drifters, (You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman for Aretha Franklin, The Locomotion for Little Eva and Pleasant Valley Sunday for the Monkees are just a fraction of the hits that made them some of the most successful and prolific writers in music history. 

Over 400 of King’s songs have been recorded by over 1,000 artists. 

On divorcing Goffin, King moved to California’s Laurel Canyon, finding herself among like minded neighbours including Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. Here she wrote Tapestry. Unaffected and raw, the album resonated out of California in 1971 and connected with millions around the world, representing a breakthrough for female artists. It is a timeless record that improves with every listen. 

The album has sold over 25 million copies and with every song a famous classic. The track listing is as follows:
