Titanic returning to London

Thom Southerland's production of Titanic is returning to London this May.

Having played the Southwark Playhouse in 2013, Titanic will run at the Charing Cross Theatre between 28th May and 6th August 2016. Casting to be announced.

Southerland will reunite with producer Danielle Tarento and musical stager Cressida Carre. Musical direction will be from Mark Aspinall with design by David Woodhead, lighting by Howard Hudson and sound by Andrew Johnson.

Based on real people aboard the doomed liner in 1912, Maury Yeston and Peter Stone's musical was first staged on Broadway in 1997, shortly before the release of James Cameron's iconic film. It ran for two years and picked up five Tonys, including Best Musical.

It has also been announced that Thom Southerland will become the artistic director of the Charing Cross Theatre. After Titanic, Southerland will stage Radio Times (20 August - 1 October), Ragtime (8 October - 26 November) and the European premiere of Death Takes a Holiday (3 December 2016 - 21 January 2017).

Tarento will co-produce the entire season with Steven M. Levy, Sean Sweeney and Vaughan Williams.
