Confirmed: Imelda Staunton, Kevin Whateley and Lara Pulver to star in Chichester's Gypsy

It has been confirmed that Imelda Staunton, Kevin Whately and Lara Pulver will star in Chichester's revival of Gypsy this summer. Directed by Jonathan Kent, the production will run between 7th October and 8th November 2014.

The musical is based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, with book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Gypsy is often described as 'one of the greatest Broadway musicals'. The score features the musical numbers 'Let Me Entertain You' and 'Rose’s Turn'.

Imelda Staunton returns to Chichester to play the legendary Mama Rose. She most recently played Mrs Lovett opposite Michael Ball in Sweeney Todd. The production, also directed by Kent, transferred to the West End with Staunton winning the Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical.

Lara Pulver returns to Chichester to play Louise following her performance in Uncle Vanya (2012). Kevin Whately (ITV's Morse, Peak Practice and Lewis) makes his Chichester debut as Herbie.
