Eighteen understudies, standby's and alternates have been nominated for the award which is part of the 2013 West End Frame Awards. The nominees are: Alan Burkitt, Anna O'Byrne, Ashley Day, Ben Jennings, Charlotte Scott, Chris Holland, Claire Poyzer, Emma Hatton, Gary Watson, Gloria Onitiri, Hayley Gallivan, Johnny Gibbon, Jon Tsouras, Jonny Purchase, Katie Paine, Olivia Greene, Stuart Ward and Tim Driesen.

If it wasn't for understudies the West End wouldn't be able to function. This is why we introduced West End Frame's Understudy of the Year Award in 2012 as we thought it was about time understudies received the recognition they deserve. Last year’s Understudy of the Year was won by Katy Treharne who alternated the role of Christine Daaé in Phantom of the Opera.
