Details announced for NT Live broadcast of Hamlet starring Benedict Cumberbatch

Following reports, it has been confirmed that Lyndsey Turner’s production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet will be broadcast to cinemas around the world on Thursday 15th October 2015 as part of National Theatre Live. 

Produced by Sonia Friedman, Benedict Cumberbatch plays the title role in the production which opens at the Barbican Theatre on 25th August (previews from 5th August) for a limited run until 31st October 2015. 

The National Theatre’s project, NT Live, broadcasts plays live from the stage to over 550 cinemas in the UK and over 44 countries internationally. Tickets for the Hamlet NT Live will go on sale on 16th March 2015. 

NT Live to broadcast A View from the Bridge to cinemas around the world

It has been announced that NT Live will broadcast Ivo Van Hove’s production of A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller to cinemas across the UK and around the world on Thursday 26 March 2015 at 7pm.

Over 1500 screenings will take place in over 40 countries with further encore screenings to be announced. The production is transferring to the West End's Wyndham’s Theatre from 10th February following an acclaimed run at the Young Vic. 

Mark Strong leads the cast as Eddie Carbone. He is joined by: Emun Elliott as Marco, Phoebe Fox as Catherine, Michael Gould as Alfieri, Richard Hansell as Louis, Luke Norris as Rodolpho and Nicola Walker as Beatrice.

NT Live to broadcast Young Vic's A Streetcar Named Desire

It has been announced that Benedict Andrews' production of A Streetcar Named Desire will be broadcast from the Young Vic to cinemas by National Theatre Live on Tuesday 16th September at 7pm.

A Streetcar Named Desire marks NT Live’s first collaboration with the Young Vic. NT Live performances are broadcast via satellite to over 1,100 venues in over 40 different countries around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield. 

The cast of this brand new production of Tennessee Williams’ tragic masterpiece incudes: Gillian Anderson, Clare Burt, Lachele Carl, Branwell Donaghey, Otto Farrant, Ben Foster, Nicholas Gecks, Troy Glasgow, Stephanie Jacob, Corey Johnson (as Mitch), Vanessa Kirby and Claire Prempeh. 

NT Live to broadcast Skylight starring Bill Nighy & Carey Mulligan next week

There will be an NT Live performance of Stephen Daldry’s critically acclaimed production of Skylight next Thursday (17th July) at 7pm.

Starring Bill Nighy as Tom Sergeant, Carey Mulligan as Kyra Hollis and Matthew Beard as Edward Sergeant, David Hare’s Olivier award-winning play runs at the Wyndham’s Theatre until 23rd August 201.
