Nikolai Foster's production of A Streetcar Named Desire is dark, intense and often gritty. Blanche's story seems more traumatic than ever as we witness her world spiral out of control.

The show stars Charlie Brooks as Blanche and Stewart Clarke as Stanley, with the cast also including: Dakota Blue Richards (Stella), Sandy Foster (Eunice), Patrick Knowles (Mitch), Natasha Magigi (Nurse/African American Woman), Mark Peachey (Steve), Nick Read (Young Collector/Doctor and Juan Pablo Yepez (Pablo).

Full casting has been announced for A Streetcar Named Desire which opens Nikolai Foster’s inaugural season as Artistic Director of the Leicester Curve.

Joining the previously announced Charlie Brooks as Blanche and Stewart Clarke as Stanley are: Dakota Blue Richards (Stella), Sandy Foster (Eunice), Patrick Knowles (Mitch), Natasha Magigi (Nurse/African American Woman), Mark Peachey (Steve), Nick Read (Young Collector/Doctor and Juan Pablo Yepez (Pablo). 

Tennessee Williams’ play opens on 20th October (previews from 16th October) and runs until 8th November 2015. Design is by Michael Taylor with lighting by Guy Hoare and compositions by David Shrubsole.

Nikolai Foster announces first Leicester Curve season

Nikolai Foster has announced his first season as artistic director of the Leicester Curve.

Pop star and former Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Pixie Lott has been cast in a stage adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Described as a sparkling play with music, the show will run between 3rd and 12th March 2016.

Breakfast at Tiffany's has been adapted for the stage by Richard Greenberg and will be directed by Foster. Following its run in Leicester, the play - which premiered in New York in 2013 - will tour the UK (dates below) before transferring to the West End's Theatre Royal Haymarket between 30th June and 17th September 2016.

Foster said: "I am thrilled Pixie Lott will lead the company in our production of Richard Greenberg's beautiful adaptation of Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's. Developing new audiences for drama and presenting plays which are socially relevant, are things we feel passionately about at Curve. I am very proud Pixie, Richard and our first class creative team will be joining us in Leicester for my inaugural season."

Young Vic's A Streetcar Named Desire transferring to New York

The Young Vic’s fastest-selling show of all time, Benedict Andrews’ production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire will make its American premiere in the inaugural season of the new St. Ann’s Warehouse on the Brooklyn Waterfront.

The production will run in New York between 23rd April and 22nd May 2016. Tickets go on sale to St. Ann’s members from 5th June. Details of public on sale to follow. 

Gillian Anderson (Blanche DuBois), Ben Foster (Stanley Kowalski) and Vanessa Kirby (Stella Kowalski) reprise their roles for the New York run. 

NT Live to broadcast Young Vic's A Streetcar Named Desire

It has been announced that Benedict Andrews' production of A Streetcar Named Desire will be broadcast from the Young Vic to cinemas by National Theatre Live on Tuesday 16th September at 7pm.

A Streetcar Named Desire marks NT Live’s first collaboration with the Young Vic. NT Live performances are broadcast via satellite to over 1,100 venues in over 40 different countries around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield. 

The cast of this brand new production of Tennessee Williams’ tragic masterpiece incudes: Gillian Anderson, Clare Burt, Lachele Carl, Branwell Donaghey, Otto Farrant, Ben Foster, Nicholas Gecks, Troy Glasgow, Stephanie Jacob, Corey Johnson (as Mitch), Vanessa Kirby and Claire Prempeh.
