In Anthony Horowitz's new play Dinner with Saddam the Alawai family receive the surprise of a lifetime when they are informed that Saddam Hussein is coming round for dinner. The concept sounds absolutely ridiculous, but Horowitz's play is based on truth - Saddam Hussein would sometimes drop into the homes of 'normal' people for dinner. Dinner with Saddam is a political comedy with some dark layers to be shed.

Production images have been released for the world première of Dinner with Saddam. Anthony Horowitz's play, which is currently in previews, officially opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory tomorrow (22nd September) and runs until 14th November 2015. The cast includes Steven Berkoff , Shobu Kapoor, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Nathan Amzi, Ilan Goodman and Rebecca Grant. Directed by Lindsay Posner, design is by Tim Shortall with lighting by Howard Harrison, sound by Gregory Clarke and music by Matthew Scott.

Dinner with Saddam to premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory; casting announced

Anthony Horowitz's play Dinner with Saddam will receive its world premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory this autumn.

Sanjeev Bhaskar (Goodness Gracious Me/Spamalot) leads the cast, starring alongside Nathan Amzi (Urinetown/In the Heights), Ilan Goodman (Bad Jews/Intimate Apparel) and Rebecca Grant (Seminar/Holby City). Further casting to be announced. 

Directed by Lindsay Posner, the production opens on 22nd September (previews from 10th September) and runs until 14th November 2015. Design is by Tim Shortall with lighting by Howard Harrison, sound by Gregory Clarke and music by Matthew Scott.
