Racing Minds are back at the Fringe with their sell out show, Aaaand Now For Something Completely Improvised, which does exactly what it says on the tin. The comic quintet is made up of five brilliant minds with remarkably brilliant funny bones.

The fourth wall is broken from the start, with one of the actors offering around sweets to the audience (already I’m loving it) before announcing they will be telling a story. Yet when the actors coincidentally forget the name, characters and, indeed, plot of the tale they pluck at the minds of quivering audience members in source of an idea. As expected, picking on an unsuspecting audience member will give you an answer as odd and awkward as imagined. In my case, it was ‘The story of Ditty Waa Waa and the Monrovia Alphabet’… how wonderfully mad.

Straight away the actors spring to life and astonishingly turn this mad order of words into a thoroughly entertaining, hour-long show. The chemistry between the cast is endearing; it’s wildly entertaining to watch them stitch each other up, and even march onstage mid-scene to correct each other when accuracy fails to match the speed of wit. 

Racing minds equipped with the panicked answers of un-wanting audience members equals a show that will never tire and each fifth of the quintet must be applauded on the creation of a remarkable show. Aaaand Now For Something Completely Improvised is improvisation at is best and I hope to see it at the fringe for many years to come.
