No childhood is complete without a theatre trip to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's colourful retelling of the biblical story about Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours is irresistibly charming, I'm always surprised when I watch the show and realise I know every single word to every single song. It's the perfect musical for young, first time theatregoers.
There's no denying that Joseph is an absolutely bizarre show featuring everything from inflatable sheep, contrasting musical influences and a never-ending megamix during which half the show is performed again. It's crazy but secretly we all love it.
2009 X Factor winner Joe McElderry is the latest performer to take on the title role. Vocally McElderry is the strongest Joseph I have ever seen - his rendition of 'Close Every Door' is magnificent.
Former Britain's Got Talent contestant Lucy Kay also impresses as the Narrator. Kay shows off a different side to her vocal talents; in addition to soaring into her soprano range, Kay also belts out some huge notes with incredible power.
The entire cast hardly leave the stage and perform each and every number with complete dedication - I don't know where they find the energy. Their enthusiasm carries the show and ensures everyone has a fantastic time.
There's no denying that many elements of this touring production feel tired and dated. The set could do with a lick of paint whilst some costumes are crying out to be updated. Nevertheless, Joseph continues to thrill audiences. It's not just a show, but a theatrical tradition.
There is never a dull moment whilst watching Joseph - it is my girlty pleasure. I had a great time and such a laugh seeing the show again. The current cast is one of the best I've seen - it's great to see the show in such good shape.
