Funny Girl starring Sheridan Smith extends West End run

The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye has announced that Funny Girl has extended its West End run at the Savoy Theatre for a second time.

The musical will now run until 8th October 2016. Tickets are on sale from 8th February.

Starring Sheridan Smith as Fanny Brice, Funny Girl opened to press at the Menier Chocolate Factory in December 2015. Following its sold out run, the musical will open at the Savoy Theatre (where Smith previously starred in Legally Blonde) on 9th April 2016.

Directed by Michael Mayer, Funny Girl's run at the Menier sold out within hours, breaking box office records and becoming the theatre's fastest selling production.

Funny Girl also currently stars Marilyn Cutts as Mrs Brice, Darius Campbell as Nick, Natasha J Barnes as Emma and Maurice Lane as Mr Keeney.

Completing the current cast are: Valda Aviks (Mrs O’Malley), Bruce Montague (Ziegfeld), Joel Montague (Eddie) and Gay Soper (Mrs Strakosh) with Emma Caffrey, Matthew Croke, Joelle Dyson, Rebecca Fennelly, Luke Fetherston, Leah Harris, Kelly Homewood, Sammy Kelly and Stuart Ramsay.

Choreography is by Lynne Page, with set by Michael Pavelka, costume by Matthew Wright, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound by Richard Brooker, musical supervision by Alan Williams and orchestrations by Chris Walker.
