The production will open at a "central London venue", with dates and further information to be announced next week. The show has music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.
The Southwark Playhouse cast included David Bedella (currently in The Producers), Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Nathan Amzi, Emma Kingston (currently in Les Miserables), Jonny Labey (currently in EastEnders), Sam Mackay (currently in wonder.land), Christina Modestou (currently in Shrek), Eve Polycarpou and Wayne Robinson.
Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, In The Heights is described as "an exhilarating journey into Washington Heights, one of Manhattan's most vibrant communities – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggle can be deciding which traditions to take with you, and which ones to leave behind."
