An all-children's version of the musical Annie will run at the West End's Arts Theatre this summer between 3rd August (previews from 29th July) and 31st Agusut 2015.
AnnieJr is being staged in response to Julie Walters’s claim that only the rich can now afford drama school. P2P Productions' Matthew Chandler has cast children who might not be able to afford training through an open audition process.
Over 2,900 young people auditioned and more than 350 young performers aged six to nineteen have made up eight different casts who will take turns to perform the musical throughout the run. All profits will be reinvested into more performances with more young people.
The show has music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and book by Thomas Meehan.
