The threat of a strike on London Underground has been halted, after both unions involved said they would suspend industrial action. With a second 48-hour stoppage originally planned to start tonight, both the RMT and the TSSA called off action after mediation with London Underground.
The TSA was the first to reach a deal over Tube ticket office closures in talks with mediator Acas.
A TSSA spokesman said: "We have now agreed a process where all our serious concerns over safety and job losses will be seriously addressed through the normal channels. We are obviously pleased that we have agreed this process, which will allow us to suspend our strike immediately, and cancel it later when the agreement reaches us in a formal document."
The strike action stems from a plan to close ticket offices across the Tube network, with the potential loss of 950 jobs.
