It has been announced that Trevor Nunn is reviving Ingmar Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage at the St James Theatre later this year. Nunn, who directed Iain Glen and his then-wife Imogen Stubbs in the first production at the Belgrade, Coventry in 2008, is revisiting the play with actress Olivia Willams.
Scenes from a Marriage will open at the St James Theatre on 16th September (previews from 11th September) and run until 9th November 2013 (previews from 11 September) to coincide with the venue's first anniversary.
Scenes from a Marriage is adapted by Joanna Murray-Smith from Ingmar Bergman's 1970s Swedish TV series and follows Johan and Marianne from happily married couple to warring contenders in divorce and beyond.
Olivia Williams previously worked with Trevor Nunn on his farewell production as artistic director of the National Theatre, Love's Labour's Lost. Her other theatre credits include Hotel in Amsterdam (Donmar Warehouse), The Changeling (Barbican), Happy Now?(National Theatre) and In a Forest Dark and Deep (Vaudeville Theatre).
