Voting for West End Frame's Understudy of the Year 2013 will open tomorrow (Thursday 16th May) at 3pm and voting will close six weeks later at 3pm on Wednesday 26th June. The result will then be announced on Friday 28th June.
Understudy of the Year 2012 was won by Katy Treharne who alternated the role of Christine DaaƩ in Phantom of the Opera. We introduced Understudy of the Year as we felt understudies should receive recognition for what they do as without them the West End simply would not be able to function.
Eighteen understudies, standby's and alternates have been nominated. We can exclusively reveal that the nominees are: Alan Burkitt, Anna O'Byrne, Ashley Day, Ben Jennings, Charlotte Scott, Chris Holland, Claire Poyzer, Emma Hatton, Gary Watson, Gloria Onitiri, Hayley Gallivan, Johnny Gibbon, Jon Tsouras, Jonny Purchase, Katie Paine, Olivia Greene, Stuart Ward and Tim Driesen.

All the ones in the list I know are excellent, but without Georgie Ashford, who's covering FIVE of the lead female roles in A Chorus Line (brilliantly I may add) I don't think i'll bother!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely vote Ashley Day as he is amazing in the role and really deserves to win...!
