Over the last two weeks we have received thousands of votes and can now reveal that Sofia Escobar has won the 2013 West End Frame Award for Best Performance of a Song in a Musical! She has won the Award for her performance of Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again in Phantom of the Opera.
Speaking to West End Frame about winning the Award, Sofia said "I feel extremely honoured and really proud, it's wonderful to have this recognition from West End Frame and from the audience, it was amazing to be nominated among such talented performers! Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again is one of my favourite songs to sing and it really does mean a lot to me. I do my best to make it real and true every single time I sing it."
"I would like to say a big and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who voted! I feel so blessed to have so much support from so many people out there! This sort of recognition really does mean the world to me and it inspires me to keep working hard and growing as a performer."

We would like to congratulate Sofia and the other nine nominees as we have received so much feedback from readers saying how hard it has been to decide who to vote - they are all so talented!. The runners up are Danielle Hope (Les Miserables), Louise Dearman (Wicked), Victoria Hamilton-Barritt (A Chorus Line) and Rob Delaney (Spamalot).
Sofia Escobar is currently starring as Christine DaaƩ in the West End production of Phantom of The Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, Andrew Lloyd Webber's multi-award winning musical continues to captivate audiences night after night after more than 10,000 performances.
In West End Frame's recent review of Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Tomlins wrote "Sofia Escobar's portrayal of Christine DaaƩ is perfect. Her voice is so pure and I could listen to it all day."
Unlike other theatre awards, West End Frame only open voting for one award category at a time. Last year's 'Best Performance of a Song in a Musical' Award was won by Rachel Tucker for her performance of Defying Gravity in Wicked.
Next month voting opens for West End Frame's Understudy of the Year 2013. Earlier this year Chris Evans announced the first nominee during a broadcast of his Radio 2 Breakfast show. More nominees and voting information will be announced shortly.
