From the award-winning Kielty brothers comes Wasted Love, the sell-out 2011 Edinburgh Fringe festival hit. Originally produced by OneAcademy Productions with students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The show will be performed one night only on Sunday 25th November at St Paul's Church in Covent Garden.
Wasted Love began with six students, a pair of writers, a director, a piano and a title. It was part of the RSAMD’s New Musical Developments in 2011 and was subsequently developed into an hour-long show. The piece grew organically as these artists collaborated: sharing their stories of failed relationships and turning them into songs. What emerged was ridiculous and beautiful in equal measure.
Wasted Love was part of One Academy Productions’ 2011 Season at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It garnered fantastic reviews and became one of the cult hits of the fringe. It went on to be revived for a Gala performance at the Oran Mor in Glasgow in October 2011, which was a sell-out. The cast were also invited to perform excerpts at the Above the Stag Theatre, Victoria by Musical Theatre Matters (Now the Musical Theatre Network) as a showcase of the work they do to support exciting, new, British musical theatre.
The show received such accolades and was so loved by the company and by audiences that it was clear the show had a wider appeal and should be revived in the future. The company would now love to bring the show to London audiences.
