ITV will be the official television broadcast partner for the 38th Olivier Awards which take place on Sunday 13th April 2014 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. ITV will screen a highlights programme shortly after the ceremony (the exact broadcast time will be confirmed nearer the time).
The Olivier Awards and SOLT extends its partnership for 2014 with the ITV Stage in the Covent Garden Piazza where theatre-loving members of the public can enjoy a free Olivier Awards celebration There will be a relay of the awards’ ceremony show on big screens as well as live performances from top West End shows, along with special guests, red carpet fashion tips and much more. The hosts for this stage, and performances, will be announced nearer the date.
BBC Radio 2 will broadcast a new special two-hour highlights programme of the Olivier Awards, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, including speeches, performances, backstage interviews and studio guests, to be broadcast at 6.00pm on Saturday 19th April.
2014 sees the return of the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award for the most popular show, the only Olivier Award decided entirely by members of the public. Voting was launched on Elaine Paige's Sunday programme on 26th January and will close on Tuesday 4th March.
Further details of the Olivier Awards ceremony will be announced shortly, it will include performances from some of the nominated musicals, tributes to this year's Special Award winners and some very special guests. The nominations for the 2014 awards will be announced on Monday 10th March at Rosewood London. BBC Radio 2 will be broadcasting live from the hotel's Grand Ballroom.
For the first time ever, the Olivier Awards will partner with theatrical charity Acting for Others. Acting for Others is made up of 15 individual theatrical charities who between them offer financial and emotional assistance and support to those in the entertainment profession who have fallen on hard times.
