The Rocky Horror Show transfers to Australia following UK Tour

It has been announced that the 40th Anniversary Touring production of The Rocky Horror Show will transfer to Australia next year, after completing its current UK Tour in November.

The show has played to packed theatres across the country during 2013 and has continued to smash box office records. The tour has been seen by over 300,000 people, making it the most successful Rocky Horror Show tour ever.

The 40th Anniversary Tour continues in the UK for another seven weeks until the final performance in Wolverhampton on 2nd November. The production will then go on to tour across Australia, visiting Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne during 2014.

Tickets for the Australian dates recently went on sale and demand so far has been huge, with over 52,000 tickets being sold in just two weeks, proving yet again that The Rocky Horror Show has unending appeal with fans across the globe. The Australian production will star Neighbours actor and singer, Craig McLachlan as Dr. Frank ‘n’ Furter.

Since its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show has been performed worldwide in over 30 countries in every continent and has been translated into more than 20 languages. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, Christopher Luscombe created a new production for the year-long UK tour.

As well as the UK tour, the show is currently playing in Mexico, Finland, South Africa, Thailand and Israel, while productions are also planned for Portugal, Peru, Poland, Brazil, Greece, Argentina and Panama. The show recently ran in Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand, Bulgaria, Japan, Poland and the USA.

Dani Harmer, Strictly Come Dancing 2012 finalist and star of Tracy Beaker, currently appears as Janet in the UK production of The Rocky Horror Show, alongside winner of ITV1’s Superstar and star of the global tour Jesus Christ Superstar, Ben Forster, who plays Brad. West End actor Oliver Thornton, who has appeared in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Chicago, stars in the lead role of Frank ‘n’ Furter, while Philip Franks, from The Darling Buds of May and Heartbeat, plays the Narrator.
