It's funny to think that Hairspray only premiered on Broadway in 2002 as it feels like one of those classic musicals which has been around since time began. Following its Olivier Award winning West End run, Hairspray has toured the UK several times, but now a brand new production has been staged at the renowned Leicester Curve Theatre.

Following several sold out performances on board the Battersea Barge, last week The Singers Soirée, founded by Jamie Chapman Dixon, transferred to a considerably larger venue, St Giles-in-the-Fields in Tottenham Court Road. The venue is lovely; however, the lack of toilet facilities was slightly frustrating.

Damian Humbley, Jenna Russell and Mark Umbers to star in Merrily We Roll Along

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced casting for its hugely anticipated revival of the Sondheim / Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along, its Christmas 2012 show. The cast will include include Damian Humbley, Jenna Russell, Mark Umbers, Josefina Gabrielle, Clare Foster, Glyn Kerslake and Zizi Strallen.
