The Illusionists breaks Shaftesbury Theatre's box office records

The Stage have revealed that The Illusionists broke records at the Shaftesbury Theatre this Christmas.

The magic show took more than £1 million during the final week of its run between  28th December and 3rd January.

18,500 people saw the show during its final week meaning The Illusionists broke both sales and attendance records, the previous of which was held by Derren Brown’s show Svengali.

£3.4 million was reportedly taken throughout the seven week season, making it the highest grossing short season ever at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Having played in 71 cities across 17 countries, The Illusionists has opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre to play its fifth West End engagement. The show brings together seven magicians from across the globe who each take to the stage a couple of times throughout the evening.

Full line-up announced for The Illusionists at the Shaftesbury Theatre

The full line-up has been announced for The Illusionists which opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre later this year. 

As previously announced, Britain’s Got Talent magician Jamie Raven leads the cast of the show which is the most successful magic show in Broadway history. The line-up is completed by The Manipulator and The Trickster.

Described as the world’s best-selling touring magic show, The Illusionists has played to 71 cities across 17 countries. The production's fifth West End engagement opens on 16th November 2015 (previews from 14th November) for a limited run until 3rd January 2016.

The Illusionists to open at the Shaftesbury Theatre in November

It has been announced that The Illusionists will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre later this year.

Made in Dagenham to close in April

It has been confirmed that Made in Dagenham will close in the West End on 11th April 2015. A statement posted on the show's Facebook Page reads:

Today it has been announced that we will end our run at the Adelphi Theatre on Saturday 11th April adding a further two weeks to our booking period before the final performance in April. Producers are already in discussions regarding a UK Tour and future life for the show.
