Jerry Herman's musical The Grand Tour was a big flop on Broadway when it opened in 1979. Thirty-six years later the piece is receiving its European premiere at the Finborough Theatre which is looking smaller than ever.

Production images have been released for the European première of Jerry Herman’s 1979 Broadway musical, The Grand Tour. Directed by Thom Southerland, the musical is currently in previews at the Finborough Theatre ahead of its official opening tomorrow (6th January 2015). Produced by Danielle Tarento, The Grand Tour runs for an eight-week season concluding on Saturday 21st February. The cast is led by Alastair Brookshaw (Parade/Cabaret), Nick Kyle (Chris in New Zealand premiere of Miss Saigon) and Zoë Doano (Sweet Smell of Success/Les Miserables).

Casting announced for European première of The Grand Tour

It has been announced that Alastair Brookshaw (Parade/Cabaret), Nick Kyle (Chris in New Zealand premiere of Miss Saigon) and Zoë Doano (Sweet Smell of Success/Les Miserables, pictured right) will lead the cast of the European première of Jerry Herman’s 1979 Broadway musical, The Grand Tour.

Thom Southerland directs the show which runs at the Finborough Theatre as part of the 20 Premières Season. It opens on Tuesday 6th January (previews from 1st January) and runs until Saturday 21st February.

The cast is completed by: Michael Cotton, Laurel Dougall, Elizabeth Graham, Natasha Karp, Vincent Pirillo, Blair Robertson, Samuel J Weir and Lizzie Wofford.

European premiere of The Grand Tour to be staged at the Finborough

It has been announced that Thom Southerland will direct the European premiere of The Grand Tour at the Finborough Theatre.

The show has music and lyrics by Jerry Herman with book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble. Opening in 1979, The Grand Tour marked Jerry Herman’s return to Broadway after almost a decade away.
