The Mentalists announces early West End closure

It has been announces that The Mentalists is ending its West End run sooner than planned. 

The production, which stars Stephen Merchant and Stephan Rhodri, will play its final performance at the Wyndham’s Theatre on 29th August. It was previously booking to 26th September 2015 and opened on 13th July 2015.

A statement from producers reads: "It has been a great joy bringing The Mentalists into the West End this summer, however we have had to take the very difficult but prudent decision, based on a challenging post-summer period, to reduce the run to nine weeks. We wish to thank the cast, creative team and crew for all of their dedication, humour and hard work in creating a production which we are immensely proud of."

Stephen Merchant makes his West End debut alongside Steffan Rhodri in Richard Bean's two-hander. First staged in 2002, The Mentalists has been revived by Abbey Wright with a top notch cast.

Stephen Merchant & Steffan Rhodri to star in The Mentalists at the Wyndham’s Theatre

It has been announced that Stephen Merchant will make his West End debut in a new production of Richard Bean’s comic two hander The Mentalists. 

Steffan Rhodri will also star in the production which is directed by Abbey Wright. Design is by Richard Kent, with lighting by David Plater and casting by Anne Vosser.

The show opens at the Wyndham’s Theatre on Monday 13th July (previews from 3rd July) and runs for a limited season until 26th September 2015. 

Holed up in a faceless Finsbury Park hotel room Ted (Stephen Merchant), and Morrie (Steffan Rhodri) are forced to confront the darker side of their unique relationship. Things unravel as the pressure mounts in this hilarious and touching tale of friendship and utopian visions gone awry.
