GOSSIP: Producer wants West End transfer for Hairspray UK tour

Mark Goucher, who is currently producing the UK tour of Hairspray, has revealed to West End Frame that he wants the musical to transfer to the West End next year.

“I am desperately trying to get the writers to allow us to bring this new production into London next year” Goucher said, “My cast are phenomenal and absolutely deserve to be seen in London. I hope it happens!”

Goucher explained the tour is “obviously a little more economical than the original production” and that “in the right theatre it could sit down and just run for a very long time”.

Hairspray is currently playing a Christmas residency at Birmingham Alexandra Theatre as part of its 25 venue UK tour which began in September this year. The production is directed by Paul Kerryson, with choreography by Drew McOnie and musical direction by Ben Atkinson. The show has music and lyrics by Academy Award, Tony and Emmy winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Robert Webb returns to Jeeves & Wooster; new touring cast announced

It has been revealed that Robert Webb will re-join the cast of Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense next year after completing his run in the West End production of Neville's Island.

Following its acclaimed West End run, which was extended several times, Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense is currently touring the UK. Jason Thorpe and Christopher Ryan are also joining the cast as Jeeves and Seppings . Webb plays Bertie Wooster.

They take over from John Gordon Sinclair (Jeeves), James Lance (Bertie Wooster) and Robert Goodale (Seppings).

Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense announces early West End closure

According to WhatsOnStagge, producers Mark Goucher and Mark Rubinstein have confirmed that Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense will close at the Duke of York's Theatre on Saturday 20th September 2014. The production was previously booking in the West End until Saturday 17th January 2015.

The play's current stars John Gordon Sinclair and James Lance will reprise their performances in Perfect Nonsense's UK Tour this autumn. The Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense UK Tour will commence on 24th September visiting Guildford, Cambridge, Newcastle, Norwich, Reading, Salford, Cheltenham, Southampton, Glasgow and Bath.

Based on and adapted from the established literary works of P.G. Wodehouse, Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense is a new play by brothers Robert and David Goodale. Nine months into its West End run (which has been extended several times), John Gordon Sinclair and James Lance have taken over the lead roles.

It has been announced that John Gordon Sinclair and James Lance will play Jeeves and Wooster in the Olivier Award-winning comedy Perfect Nonsense. The will take over from Robert Webb and Mark Heap from 30th June 2014 and star in the play's upcoming UK Tour. Co-writer Robert Goodale will take over from Mark Hadfield as Seppings.

Written by brothers Robert and David Goodale (based on and adapted from the established literary works of P.G. Wodehouse), Perfect Nonsense opened at the West End's Duke Of York's Theatre last October where it runs until 20th September 2014. The play's UK Tour begins on 24th September at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre before visiting Cambridge, Newcastle, Norwich, Reading, Salford, Cheltenham, Southampton, Glasgow and Bath.

Based on and adapted from the established literary works of P.G. Wodehouse, brothers Robert and David Goodale are behind this production of Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense at the Duke Of York's Theatre. While I'm sure fans of P.G. Wodehouse's work will lap up this comedy, personally I didn't find the production enjoyable which came as a surprise as usually I love a bit of slapstick comedy.
