Daniel Koek to play London Hippodrome

Daniel Koek will kick off the New Year with a concert at the London Hippodrome on 15th January.

Koek recently played Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Miserables at the Queen's Theatre and released his second album High.

His theatre credits also include: Joseph Cable in South Pacific (Barbican/UK Tour/Sydney Opera House/Australian Tour), Anatoly in Chess (Tour) and Tony in West Side Story (50th Anniversary Tour).

Following the release of his solo album High, last week West End actor Daniel Koek took to the stage at The Pheasantry to celebrate his next chapter as well as his theatrical career. Nothing beats hearing such a powerful voice in such an intimate venue; Koek found the right balance between formal and informal, hosting a relaxing evening of musical pleasure.

Daniel Koek most recently starred as Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre.

His theatre credits also include: Joseph Cable in South Pacific (Barbican/UK Tour/Sydney Opera House/ Australian Tour), Anatoly in Chess (Tour), Tony in West Side Story (50th Anniversary Tour). He has also appeared in Saturday Night Fever, Jason And The Argonauts and Pacific Overtures.

Following his departure from Les Mis, Dan has released his second studio album which is entitled High. Tracks include 'Bring Him Home', 'Oceano' and 'February Song' as well as duets with Jonathan Ansell and his former Les Mis co-star Carrie Hope Fletcher.

Have you been keen to do a second album for a while?

Yes, definitely. The last album was done over five years ago and it was more musical theatre material to coincide with me playing Tony in West Side Story. Obviously I’m very proud of it, but the new album is more of a commercial venture in keeping with the aim of becoming a recording artist which is the next step I want to take in my career.

War Horse's Sion Daniel Young wins 'Best Dramatic Performance' Award!

Following a short one week voting period we are thrilled to announce that Sion Daniel Young (pictured right) has won the West End Frame Award for 'Best Dramatic Performance' for his portrayal of Albert Narracott in the West End production of War Horse.

Sion joined the production at the New London Theatre earlier this year and continues to play the role to great acclaim. Our 'Best Dramatic Performance' Award is a celebration of the most powerful and heart wrenching performances which move audiences night after night in theatreland.

The final result was very close with only two percent separating the top two nominees. Gerónimo Rauch, who recently joined The Phantom of the Opera in the title role, is the first runner-up while Les Miserables' Daniel Koek (Jean Valjean) comes third and The Color Purple's Cynthia Erivo comes fourth, marking the first West End Frame Award nomination for an off-West End production. The Pride's Al Weaver comes fifth.

Last chance to see Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific has been touring the UK since last October. If you still haven't seen the production your last chance to see it will be in Woking before 21st July 2012 and Sheffield from 24th July until the 4th August 2012. Well over half a million people have seen the production so far!

Ex-Eastenders star Samantha Womack and Rebecca Thornhill are currently sharing the lead role of Nellie Forbush. Samantha will perform the role in Woking, with Rebecca appearing in Sheffield. They star opposite former Phantom of the Opera star, Matthew Camelle as Emile de Becque, Alex Fernsas Luther Billis, and Jodi Kimura as Bloody Mary, who played the role in the US. Daniel Koek plays the role of Lt Joe Cable in Woking and James Austen-Murray in Sheffield.
