Guys and Dolls confirms early West End closure

It has been confirmed that the West End production of Guys and Dolls will close on 21st August, four months earlier than planned.

The show previously extended its run at the Phoenix Theatre  to 7th January 2017.

A statement from producers reads: “Having enjoyed rave reviews in the UK, the critically acclaimed Chichester Festival Theatre production of Guys and Dolls will play its final performance in the West End on Sunday August 21, prior to embarking on an international tour. We are incredibly proud of Guys and Dolls and the way it has delighted audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre, in the West End (Savoy and Phoenix), and at numerous major UK venues.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the show to date and very much look forward to taking Guys and Dolls to an international audience, opening in Israel in September this year."

The West End production of Guys and Dolls currently stars Rebel Wilson and Simon Lipkin as Miss Adelaide and Nathan Detroit.

  1. This is sad, but probably not a surprise. Having gone with enthusiasm to see this, by half time it seemed a bit dated and wearing. Nothing to do with the musical numbers or cast's abilities, more to do with the plot. Lots of publicity spend on this one, will be interesting to see what slots in next month to the Phoenix.
