Former Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz is taking over as Dawn in Waitress on Broadway.
Ushkowitz replaces Kimiko Glenn on 29th July. Glenn is taking a leave of absence from the show, her return date has not been confirmed.
Running at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, Waitress stars Jessie Mueller with the cast also including Keala Settle, Nick Cordero, Drew Gehling, Dakin Matthews, Eric Anderson, Christopher Fitzgerald, Thay Floyd, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Ragan Pharris and Ryan Vasquez.
Ushkowitz played Tina Cohen-Chang in Glee. She made her Broadway debut as a child in the 1996 Broadway revival of The King and I and went on to appear in the original production of Spring Awakening.
Waitress has a score by Sara Bareilles with book by Jessie Nelson. Based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, the musical opened in New York in April.
