Brandon Victor Dixon, Lexi Lawson & Michael Luwoye to star in Hamilton

Brandon Victor Dixon will take over as Aaron Burr in Hamilton on Broadway in mid-August (date TBC).


Joining the Broadway cast on 11th July are Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton and Michael Luwoye as alternate Hamilton. As previously announced, Javier Muñoz takes over as the title role on 11th July. 

Leslie Odom Jr (Aaron Burr), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Alexander Hamilton) play their final performance on 9th July.

Victor Dixon is currently appearing on Broadway in Shuffle Along. His Broadway credits also include The Color Purple and Motown The Musical. He was in the original cast of The Scottsboro Boys off-Broadway, and reprised his performance in the West End.

Lawson previously starred in the first national tour of In The Heights as Vanessa. She has also played Mimi in the U.S. tour of RENT. Luwoye makes his Broadway debut in Hamilton, having appeared most recently off-Broadway in the musical Invisible Thread.  

Hamilton will celebrate its 1st anniversary at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on 6th August.

Directed by Thomas Kail and featuring a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is inspired by the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow.

The current cast also includes Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Rory O’Malley as King George, Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Daveed Diggs as Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler.

Hamilton will open in the West End at the Victoria Palace Theatre in October 2017.
