Bright Star announces Broadway closure

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's bluegrass musical Bright Star has announced its Broadway closure, after struggling with low grosses.

Bright Star will play its final performance at the Cort Theatre on 26th June 2016. Having opened in March, the show will have played 30 previews and 109 regular performances.

Former West End star Carmen Cusack received a Tony nomination for her performance in Bright Star whilst the cast also includes Paul Alexander Nolan, A.J. Shively, Michael Mulheren, Stephen Bogardus, Dee Hoty, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Hannah Elless, Stephen Lee Anderson and Emily Padgett. The show is directed by Walter Bobbie.

Bright Star previously played a limited engagement at San Diego’s Old Globe in 2014 and also ran at D.C.’s Kennedy Center last year.

Ticket holders for cancelled performances should contact their point of purchase.
