An American in Paris to close on Broadway

It has been announced that An American in Paris will close on Broadway.

The musical will play its final performance at the Palace Theatre on 1st January 2017 after 29 previews and 719 regular performances. 

Based on the Oscar-winning film, An American in Paris opened on Broadway in April 2015. The show is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. 

The score has been adapted, arranged and supervised by Rob Fisher. An American in Paris has music by George and Ira Gershwin with a book by Craig Lucas. The current Broadway cast includes Leanne Cope as well as Garen Scribner, Veanne Cox, Jill Paice, Brandon Uranowitz and Max Von Essen. A U.S. tour will begin in October.

As previously revealed, An American in Paris will open in the West End at the Dominion Theatre on 4th March 2017. Robert Fairchild and British dancer Leanne Michelle Cope will lead the cast, reprising their performance from the Broadway production.
