GOSSIP: Could School Of Rock open at the New London Theatre later this year?

Following the announcement of Show Boat's early closure, The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye has suggested that Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical School Of Rock could open at the New London Theatre later this year.

Following its Broadway opening, it was announced that School Of Rock would begin performances at the London Palladium in autumn 2016. However, last month producers revealed they were aiming for the show at a different theatre in Spring 2017.

Speaking to Bamigboye, Lloyd Webber said: "We’re looking into whether we can get into the theatre in November. But we’re by no means confirmed. I would say there’s a 40 percent chance of it happening this autumn."

Directed by Laurence Connor, the Broadway production opened in December 2015 starring Alex Brightman and Sierra Boggess. A U.S. tour is expected to launch in late 2017.

School of Rock has book by Julian Fellowes. The musical features music from the movie, as well as new music written by Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater. Choreography is by JoAnn M. Hunter, with scenic and costume design by Anna Louizos, lighting design by Natasha Katzand sound design by Mick Potter.
