Sara Bareilles & Rebel Wilson to star in The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl

Billboard have announced that singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles and Pitch Perfect's Rebel Wilson will star in Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl on 4th June.

The cast will perform the songs as the film plays backed by a 71-piece live orchestra. Bareilles has been cast as Ariel alongside Wilson as Ursula.

The cast also includes John Stamos (Fuller House/ER) as Chef Louis and Darren Criss (How to Succeed in Business/Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as Prince Eric. Tituss Burgess (Jersey Boys)will star as Sebastian, the role he played in the Broadway production!

Bareilles, whose Broadway musical Waitress is currently in previews, said: "I’ve been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic."

The Hollywood Bowl performance will also include additional songs co-composer Alan Menken co-wrote for the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid. Musical direction will be by Michael Kosarin.

Before the screening, Menken will open the Hollywood Bowl show with a medley of his best-known songs from Beauty And The Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Newsies, Enchanted, and Tangled.

Tickets are on sale from 9th April.
