Bringing together songs of the 50s, Forever Plaid centres around a fictional close harmony quartet who return from the dead to give the final concert they never had the chance to perform.
The fluffy comedy is pitched perfectly, the harmonies are on point and the music is joyous. Perfectly suited to the intimacy and friendly atmosphere of the St James Studio, Forever Plaid provides a classy night out.
The cast of four - Jon Lee, Keith Jack, Matthew Quinn and Luke Striffler - make a perfect quartet. Their chemistry is strong whilst their voices complement each other to perfection. The choreography is slick, with all four performers taking to the stage with personality and charm.
Musical director Anthony James Gabriele, who is sat at the onstage piano, does a stellar job. Directed by Grant Murphy, Forever Plaid is gentle, harmless and easily enjoyable. Lee, Jack, Quinn and Striffler seem to have a great time which certainly rubs off onto the audience.
