Casting announced for The Father

Casting has been announced for The Father which is returning to the West End for a second season.

Florian Zeller’s play will run at the Duke of York’s Theatre for a limited season between 24th February and 26th March 2016, prior to a national tour.

Joining the previously confirmed Kenneth Cranham who is reprising his performance as Andre are Amanda Drew (Three Days in the Country/Enron) as well as Rebecca Charles, Brian Doherty, Daniel Flynn and Jade William.

Directed by James Macdonald, The Father has design by Miriam Buether, lighting by Guy Hoare and sound by Christopher Shutt. The Father transferred to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre last year following its runs at the Theatre Royal Bath and Tricycle Theatre. It was recently named West End Frame's top play of 2015.

Now 80 years old, Andre was once a tap dancer. He lives with his daughter Anne and her husband Antoine. Or was he an engineer whose daughter Anne lives in London with her new lover, Pierre? The thing is, he is still wearing his pyjamas, and he can’t find his watch. He is starting to wonder if he’s losing control.

Nominated for a Tony Award for Stephen Daldry’s An Inspector Calls on Broadway, Cranham’s numerous stage credits also include The Cherry Orchard at the National Theatre, The Homecoming at the Almeida and West End productions of Entertaining Mr Sloane, Loot, The Birthday Party and Gaslight. His screen credits range from the title role in Shine On Harvey Moon to Layer Cake, Maleficent, Hot Fuzz, Oliver! and Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
