Casting announced for Firebird at Trafalgar Studios

Callie Cooke, Tahirah Sharif and Phaldut Sharma are set to reprise their performances in Phil Davies’ debut play Firebird.

Following its run at Hampstead Downstairs last autumn, Firebird opens at Trafalgar Studios 2 on 22nd February (previews from 17th February) for a limited season to 19th March 2016.

Running in association with The Children’s SocietyFirebird is directed by Edward Hall, artistic director of the Hampstead Theatre.

Firebird marks Callie Cooke’s theatrical debut, having recently graduated from the Arts Education School. Tahirah Sharif's credits include Moon on a Rainbow Shawl (National Theatre) and Waterloo Road (BBC) whilst Phaldut Sharma has appeared in Ramayan (Lyric Hammersmith) and EastEnders (BBC).

Responding to nationwide cases of child sexual exploitation throughout Britain, including those in Davies’ hometown of Rochdale, Firebird "shows how easy it can be for vulnerable young people to fall victim to sexual abuse".

The production is part of the ‘Hampstead Downstairs at the Trafalgar Studios’ season, following Four Minutes Twelve Seconds by James Fritz and The Wasp by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm.
