All Broadway shows cancelled due to snowstorm

As a result of the ban on travel in New York and suspension of public transportation by government authorities and additional safety precautions implemented due to severe weather, The Broadway League have announced that all Broadway matinee and evening performances today (Saturday 23rd January 2016) are cancelled.

Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, said: “Now that the snowstorm has arrived, I’d like to reiterate that the safety and security of theatregoers and employees is everyone's primary concern. As a result of the ban on travel in New York and the suspension of public transportation by government authorities and other safety precautions implemented on behalf of the weather, matinee and evening performances will be cancelled today, January 23rd. We expect normal operations to resume for tomorrow’s Sunday matinees.”

Ticket holders should contact their point of purchase to arrange a ticket exchange or refund. It has been reported that up to 30 inches of snow has fallen in New York; there is a travel ban in the city whilst nearly 4,300 U.S. flights have been cancelled.

UPDATE (24/01/16): The Broadway League have announced that all Broadway shows are scheduled to go ahead today, Sunday 24th January 2016. However, the following shows are offering ticket holders exchanges:

  • Aladdin, Allegiance, An American in Paris, Avenue Q, Beautiful, The Book of Mormon, Chicago, China Doll, Clever Little Lies, The Color Purple, Curious Incident, Fiddler on the Roof, Finding Neverland, Fun Home, The Gazillion Bubble Show, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, The King and I, King Charles III, Kinky Boots, The King and I, Les Miz, The Lion King, Matilda, Misery, Our Mother's Brief Affair, On Your Feet!, The Phantom of the Opera, Shear Madness, Something Rotten!, School of Rock, Spring Awakening, Tappin' through Life, Trip of Love, A View From the Bridge and Wicked.
