"The harder the climb, the sweeter the success". One of the best pieces of advice I have ever been given. Cheers mum! Thanks for reminding me that when it feels really difficult and I'm contemplating emigrating to a Thai yoga retreat, it's then that your determination and ambition matter the most.
This week I am reminding you to simply like yourself. Asking you to put yourself first and remind yourself of why you ever wanted to be where you are in the first place.
I've changed a lot this year. I've found a voice for all the thoughts inside my brain, learning to speak up when I need to and when to stand my ground and put myself first. I'm realising that you can live your life however you want to, because it's yours and nobody has the right to make you feel guilty about the way you live it. A couple of people have made me feel doubtful about wanting success; have told me it's a bad thing and that if you want it too much then you’ll end up unhappy. I'm sure that in certain cases there is truth in this, but actually there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be successful.
If you have ambition, it’s in you and there’s very little you can do to get rid of it, nor should you want to. Instead, try teaming ambition with hard work and I’m pretty sure things will start to happen. Sometimes it's easy to become distracted and forget it’s there. Every day things can become issues and take up your time, and that’s ok – that’s reality. Nothing wastes time more than worrying or thinking about the picture in your mind of how things are supposed to be. Which actually, nobody knows and your life could instantly change so why stick to a plan?

I believe in life, there is a reason behind everyone you meet. Some will test, some hurt, some use and some people - the truly important ones - bring out the best in you. These are amazingly rare people, people who remind you why it's worth it. Pay those people a bit of time this week, you might learn something or feel refreshed. Negative people have a problem with every solution, whilst positive people have a solution for every problem. So stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind. Let's all take a note from Disney and ‘LET IT GO’. The less you care, the happier you will be. Promise.
Make the decision to make yourself number one. Give yourself attention and listen to what you want. If you deserve a treat then get one. If you've had a hard day then be kind to yourself and if you're simply working really hard, remember to give yourself some time off to relax. Light a candle, pick up a book and quiet the voice in your head telling you to do more and be more. For this week, let it all be enough.
My three C's of life are; Choices, Chances, Changes. You must make a choice to take a chance or your life will never change. It's never just that black and white, but small choices can be surprisingly easy. Putting yourself first is not a negative quality; it’s your job to take care of yourself and time management is vital if you’re a person with a busy social or working life – or both!
Milly Muses: Stay focused and believe in yourself with the ability to give yourself a break and make yourself your priority.
