The Commitments to open in Dublin ahead of UK Tour

Following its West End closure, The Commitments will open at the Bord Gàis Energy Theatre in Dublin next year for a limited run of twenty-three performances.

The musical runs between 12th and 29th October 2016. Tickets will go on sale on 2nd October 2015 at 9am. After its Dublin run, The Commitments will embark on a year long UK tour.

Roddy Doyle says: "Watching The Commitments come together and stay for more than two years in London has been a professional and personal thrill. But the story was born in Dublin; it would never have been written if its author hadn’t come from Dublin. So, I’m very, very excited at the prospect of seeing it coming home to Dublin."

Doyle adapted The Commitments for the stage from his original novel. Jamie Lloyd directs.

The score features over 20 soul songs including: Night Train, Try A Little Tenderness, River Deep, Mountain High, In The Midnight Hour, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Save Me, Mustang Sally, I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Reach Out, Uptight, Knock On Wood and I Can't Turn You Loose.
