Has Liza Minnelli cancelled her show at the London Palladium?

Earlier today BroadwayWorld reported that Liza Minnelli has cancelled her upcoming UK concerts, including her show at the London Palladium on 20th September.

A statement from Minnelli's representation released to BroadwayWorld says the shows have been cancelled "because of the promotor's failure to pay."

The statement reads: "Due to current economics and unusually high ticket prices, the producer was unabashed to secure the promised funds. For months Liza has been preparing for these shows and she was devastated to hear of this unfortunate news. She has always thought of London a second home and will miss seeing her friends and devoted fans."

In addition to Minnelli's London show, she was supposed to play Sheffield's City Hall on Tuesday 22nd September and Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium on Thursday 24th September.

However, the plot thickens as Really Useful Theatres (who own the London Palladium) have said: "At this time we have not been officially advised by any party that the concert is cancelled." Tickets are still available to purchase online.

UPDATE (17.25): The London Palladium has confirmed via Twitter that the concert has been cancelled. They wrote: "We have been advised by the promoters of An Evening with Liza Minelli that the performance has been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded."

Ticket holders should contact their point of purchase.
