Leona Lewis has revealed that she would consider taking on a West End role.
When asked by Gaby Roslin on BBC London 94.9 if she would consider starring in a stage musical, Lewis said, "Possibly, it's very demanding on your voice! It's a different kind of singing, like the projection they use... it's different."
The 2006 X Factor winner, whose fifth album I Am is released on 11th September, went on to say, "I feel like I could, probably not right now but at some point it would be cool to do a stint somewhere, for sure."
Having trained at Sylvia Young, Italia Conti and Brit School, last year Lewis starred in the musical movie Walking on Sunshine. During the interview she described returning to her musical theatre roots as "really cool because I hadn't done it in a while".
Several other X Factor winners have gone on to work in theatre. Shayne Ward won a West End Frame Award for his West End debut in Rock Of Ages, Alexandra Burke starred in the West End production of The Bodyguard and is currently reprising her performance on tour whilst Joe McElderry is about to take on the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Elsewhere Matt Cardle recently made his West End debut in Memphis The Musical and Sam Bailey is about to perform a West End concert at the Lyric Theatre and star in pantomime in Aylesbury.
