Casting announced for new tour of Kiss Me, Kate

Opera North and the Welsh National Opera are co-producing a new production of Cole Porter's musical Kiss Me, Kate

The show is set to tour England, opening at the Leeds Grand Theatre on 21st September, before visiting Newcastle, Salford and Nottingham.

Kiss Me, Kate will be performed by a cast of opera and West End singers, with the full scale orchestra of Opera North. Kiss Me, Kate is conducted by David Charles Abell (ENO's Sweeney Todd) and directed by Jo Davies (Opera North's Carousel). Choreography is by Will Tuckett (The Wind in the Willows). 

Soprano Jeni Bern will star as Lilli Vanessi/Katherine alongside baritone Quirijn de Lang as Fred Graham/Petruchio. Jeni’s roles at Opera North have included Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, while Quirijn has most recently played Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro.

The cast also includes Tiffany Graves (The Producers) as Lois Lane/Bianca, West End Frame Award winner Ashley Day (Oklahoma!) as Bill Calhoun/Lucentio, Wayne Robinson (Thriller Live) as Paul and Katie Kerr (Sweeney Todd) as Hattie.

Hortensio and Gremio are played by Callum Train (Cats) and Emmanuel Kojo (The Scottsboro Boys). Theatre icon James Hayes plays Harry Trevor/Baptista. 

The cast is completed by: Jacade Simpson, John Savournin, Joseph Shovelton, Joshua Da Costa, Emile Ruddock, Matthew John Gregory, Jamie Emma McDonald, Alex Newton, Cris Penfold, Marianne Phillips, Ross McLaren and Rebecca Scarrott.

The score includes the likes of 'Another Op’nin’ Another Show,' 'So in Love,' 'Always True to You in My Fashion' and 'Too Darn Hot.'
