Star of the Month
Imelda Staunton

Mark my words, people will be talking about Imelda Staunton's performance of Momma Rose in Gypsy for years to come. From the second she steps foot on stage, it is clear Staunton means serious business and is not to be messed with. Every word she says, every lyric she sings and every breath she takes is 100% believable. Her rendition of 'Rose's Turn' brought many to their feet, I can't remember the last time I was so blown away.

It isn't just Imelda Staunton that makes Gypsy unmissable; Lara Pulver shines as Louise and both Gemma Sutton and Dan Burton are outstanding in supporting roles. The three strippers also bring the house down - the whole cast are magnificent. Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents' musical tells a real story with a tremendous score. The new cast album which has just been released is also an absolute must have. Read my full 5* review of Gypsy.
