The West End production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical officially opened last night (24th Feb) at the Aldwych Theatre. Directed by Marc Bruni, the show has book by Douglas McGrath with words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
Guests in attendance included: Carole King as well as Kelly Adams, David Baddiel, Simon Bartholomew, Michael Brandon, Louise Brealey, Fiona Bruce, Petula Clark, Sara Cox, Graeme Clarke, Michelle Collins, Natalie Gumede, Jessica Hynes, Dawn Joseph, Camilla Kerslake, Lynda La Plante, Jan Kincaid, Andrew Levy, Cherie Lunghi, Barry Mann, Andrea Mclean, Elaine Paige, Claire Sweeney, Bruno Tonioli, Cynthia Weil, John Williams and Victoria Wood. Katie Brayben leads the cast as Carole King. She stars alongside Ian McIntosh as song-writer Barry Mann, Alan Morrissey as King’s husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, Lorna Want as song-writer Cynthia Weil, Glynis Barber as Genie Klein, King’s mother, and Gary Trainor as music publisher and producer Don Kirshner.
Vivien Carter, Ed Currie, Oliver Lidert, Fela Lufadeju, Tanya Nicole-Edwards, Terel Nugent , Jay Perry, Tanisha Spring, Lucy St. Louis, Danielle Steers, Dylan Turner and Joanna Woodwood play iconic musical performers and band members of the era. Andy Coxon, Jason Denton, Michael Anthony Duke, Joel Harper-Jackson, Rosie Heath, Aisha Jawando, Hannah Jay-Allan and Leigh Lothian complete the cast.
